Vince Gilligan Reveals He Has a Plan for How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... At the Moment.

The acclaimed writer-producer did not foresee that the Apple TV+ show would emerge as a breakout success. “God bless the fans,” he states. “I did not foresee the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

With the first season of the hit program coming to an end—and the next chapter officially in the works—Gilligan and his team recently discussed the audience reaction and whether it will impact the narrative path of Pluribus.

On the Incredible Viewer Reception

Anyone might to get swayed by the rampant praise and fan theories about Pluribus. The creator is striving to avoid both.

“It's like being an endless supply of your favorite dessert and being tickled to death,” he describes. “It's the greatest thing, but I learn of it anecdotally, and that's by design. Never in my life looked myself up on the internet, nor do I ever want to. It's quite the opposite. It's a bottomless pit I know I would get lost in and then I'd be pooping in a five gallon bucket from the hardware store and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

In spite of his concerted efforts, there’s no way to avoid the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The most practical strategy is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“We make no attempt to adjust our writing,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not impacted by online forums.”

“It's wiser to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan concludes.

The Central Mystery: Has Vince Gilligan Know the Conclusion of Pluribus?

Considering Gilligan and his team aren’t being guided by public opinion, does it imply they have already decided how Pluribus will reach its endpoint? Essentially yes… in a way.

“We've developed some interesting ideas about the ultimate destination,” he states. “yet we stand ready to abandon a good idea for a superior concept. That philosophy has guided us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we get a better idea and I imagine we will be doing that.”

On the other hand, if all else fails, executive producer Gordon Smith has a rather amusing idea to serve as a last resort.

“My recurring proposal is that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and that's where they've been all along,” Smith quips, “but no one is buying it.”

Then again, one could always use the legendary finales?

“I want Carol to open her eyes next to Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus can be watched on Apple TV.
