Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a tabletop RPG set within the series' post-pandemic landscape. The project was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch in April of 2026.
"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," states an announcement.
Launch products are set to feature a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.
Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World
In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, sending the United States into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, turning the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. This is where the agents enter the story.
Development on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a wider market, specifically in the United States. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the campaign, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.
An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System
A preview at the game's rules reveals it employs d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic approach. Agents leverage skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, typically between one and five d10s.
- Instead of adding results together, players choose a single “result die” from the pool.
- This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Rolling a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.
Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight
Battles prioritize positioning and environmental awareness, reflecting the video games. Elements like cover, elevation, or line of sight have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to favor coordination and clever tactics over simple statistics.
A Novel Health System
The way injuries is managed adds a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.
- At zero health, an agent is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
- They may still crawl and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand seen in many shooter games.
- Any player knocked down must consult a injury chart, risking lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.
A Ready-to-Play Adventure
A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an assault by the notorious Rikers faction, who have taken over that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
