Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the club's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
