Resurgent Daniil Medvedev Secures Maiden Title in 882 Days
19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from that period of that year.
The win also indicates he has won 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.
The opponent defended 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
