Recent Particulars Emerge About the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely passing of renowned director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence residence on Sunday.
The Initial Report
A source indicates citing a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
Upon entering the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Additionally refuted circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to accounts of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
