Following the triumph of the hit anime Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which grossed over $600 million globally, the new movie Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has reached beyond the $100M mark globally, hitting a international earnings of over $108 million this weekend. The film beat out the horror sequel Black Phone 2 (almost $13 million) in its second weekend in theaters, as well as the film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere with Jeremy Allen White ($9M).

Impressive Domestic and Worldwide Earnings

Fan Engagement Efforts Drive Box Office Dominance

Sony and its subsidiary the anime streaming service Crunchyroll have skillfully used audience interaction to propel their supremacy at the animated movie market. This film's advertising push kicked off at the Anime Expo in LA in summer with a MAPPA panel, special events, and photo opportunities with Pochita, then continued with a significant involvement at New York Comic Con showcasing behind-the-scenes footage, fan raffles, and further MAPPA discussions.
