It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the contest."

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
