A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.
While perhaps not at the same level as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.
“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”
The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The swine, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people yelling “6-7” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A New Life
Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.
“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.
“It captures the spirit of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and based in heritage that unite the community. Annually, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”
Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
